Madhubani Painting - Madhubani painting, originating from Bihar, India, is a traditional folk art known for its vibrant colors and intricate patterns. Artists use natural dyes and depict Hindu mythology, nature, and daily life scenes. The paintings often feature bold outlines and geometric shapes, creating a unique and visually striking style. Madhubani art has gained international recognition for its cultural richness and storytelling through vivid visuals.
In this workshop, Hema ji will show how to paint a beautiful painting of a peacock in Bharni Style. In Madhubani paintings, A peacock in the Madhubani painting represents divine love, knowledge, prosperity, and romance. As the feather is in the form of an eye, it is believed that it saves us from evil and negativity. Bharni is a Hindi word, which means ‘filling’. The name of the art form expresses the style of painting full of color and design.

This artwork is finished in 2 modules of 1.5 hours each and you can self-pace yourself depending on your skill and experience in sketching, detailing, and coloring. Module 2: How to colour the painting with a free-hand drawing and know how to colour the painting

- A3 size Handmade/Thick Card/Drawing Paper (White Color) or Canvas
- Pencils / Eraser / Sharpener
- Black color Pen / Thin marker
- All basic Colors (Any water-based - Poster / Fabric / Acrylic etc.)

About the Master Artist
Catterfly National Awardee artist for Madhubani Art, Mrs. Hema Devi comes from a family of Madhubani artists. Her mother Leela Devi and mother-in-law Subhadhra Devi are also national award winners. Apart from practicing the craft, she also teaches students the techniques of paper mache and Madhubani Art.
