Madhubani Painting - Madhubani painting, originating from Bihar, India, is a traditional folk art known for its vibrant colors and intricate patterns. Madhubani art has gained international recognition for its cultural richness and storytelling through vivid visuals.

In this workshop, Hema ji will show how to paint a beautiful painting of Saraswati Ma In Madhubani Painting. In Madhubani painting, Saraswati Ma, the Hindu goddess of knowledge, wisdom, and music, is depicted with elegance and devotion. She is often shown holding a veena, symbolizing the arts, and sitting on a lotus or a white swan, representing purity and wisdom. Artists use bright colors and intricate patterns to portray her divine presence and grace. Saraswati Ma is also drawn with sacred symbols like books and prayer beads, emphasizing learning and spirituality.

  • Learn intricate colouring and how to use complementary colours

Module 1:  Border and the main motif 
Module 2: Detailing of the main motif with a free-hand drawing and know how to colour the painting

  • A3 size Handmade/Thick Card/Drawing Paper (White Color) or Canvas
  • Pencils / Eraser / Sharpener
  • Black color Pen / Thin marker
  • All basic Colors (Any water-based - Poster / Fabric / Acrylic etc.)

About the Master Artist

Catterfly National Awardee artist for Madhubani Art, Mrs. Hema Devi comes from a family of Madhubani artists. Her mother Leela Devi and mother-in-law Subhadhra Devi are also national award winners. Apart from practicing the craft, she also teaches students the techniques of paper mache and Madhubani Art.
