Bangal Pattachitra painting is a traditional Indian art form that originated in the Kalighat area of Kolkata, West Bengal. It is characterized by its bold colour, intricate designs, and religious themes. This remarkable Pattachitra masterpiece, meticulously hand-painted by skilled chitrakars, finds its roots in a tradition dating back to the 12th century. The term "Pattachitra" derives from "patta," meaning cloth, and "chitra," meaning picture, encapsulating its essence.

  • Pencil, Scale, Eraser
  • Micron Pen/ Fine Tip Markers
  • All Acrylic Colors or Watercolors (Artist Will Use Natural Colors)  Acrylic shades- White, Black, Cadmium Yellow, Permanent Orange, Scarlet Lake, Sap Green, Burnt Sienna, Permanent Blue Light, Golden yellow, Golden orange, Cobalt blue
  • Round Brush 0, 2, 4, 8
  • Mixing Palette
  • Bowl of Water, Rough Cloth

About the Master Artist

Catterfly master artist Samir Chitrakar is from a tribal family in Midnapore, West Bengal. He is a generational Kalighat and Santhal artist and has conducted many art exhibitions.
