About Pattachitra Style: This is an intricate work that is the true hallmark of a skilled artist like Bhaskar Mohapatra. Pattachitra, originating in the 12th century Odisha, India, is an ancient art form using 100% natural colours from conch shells and minerals. Chitrakars, the artists, craft intricate paintings on diverse surfaces like cloth, palm leaves, wood, and jewellery. The art narrates Hindu mythological stories, especially around Lord Jagannath and the Vaishnava sect, as well as local folk tales, providing insights into Odia tradition. The art's rich legacy includes masterpieces passed through generations, featuring vibrant colours, intricate details, and clear lacquer for preservation. Pattachitra remains a captivating visual representation of Odisha's culture and heritage, thanks to the adaptability of its artists across changing times. Please read this blog to know more about the techniques of Pattachitra Style Paintings.

Lord Krishna in Pattachitra StyleIn this workshop, we will be making Lord Krishna in Pattachitra Style.

Lord Krishna is a timeless source of inspiration, embodying the essence of divinity and humanity in perfect harmony. From his enchanting childhood mischiefs as Makhan Chor (butter thief) to his profound wisdom as the charioteer and guide of Arjuna in the Mahabharata, Krishna’s life is a tapestry of lessons and artistry.
His playful interactions with the gopikas and Radha symbolize unconditional love and the soul's longing for divine connection, while his role as a strategist and philosopher highlights his deep understanding of duty, righteousness, and the balance of life. His Bhagavad Gita teachings transcend time, offering guidance on how to live with purpose and detachment.
Krishna’s multifaceted persona – as a mischievous child, a romantic lover, a fearless protector, and a wise mentor – makes him a universal figure in art, literature, music, and dance. Each aspect of his life carries a message, whether it’s the joy of living, the power of love, or the path to spiritual awakening. His leelas (divine play) are not just stories but profound reflections on life, filled with layers of beauty and meaning for seekers and artists alike.
