About the Workshop

Create this stunning and intricate Pichwai painting of "Basic Sketches in Pichwai Painting " with native artist Mr. Rajnish Nimbark. Learn this ancient art form's motifs, techniques, and history under close Rajnishji's guidance.

Pichwai painting: Pichwai painting traces its origins back over 400 years to Nathdwara, near Udaipur in Rajasthan, India. These exquisite artworks, crafted on cloth, are renowned for their intricate details and captivating beauty. Pichwai paintings primarily depict various episodes from the life of Lord Krishna, showcasing scenes from his divine journey and mythological narratives.

"Sacred Motifs: Pichwai Sketching " Basic sketches form the foundation of Pichwai painting and are essential for maintaining balance, symmetry, and narrative clarity. These sketches adhere to strict traditional proportions, particularly in the deity’s posture, facial features, and hand gestures (mudras). In Pichwai painting, basic sketches of Kamal Talai and cows are carefully planned to create a sense of devotion, rhythm, and harmony. The Kamal Talai is sketched with evenly spaced lotus flowers, buds, and large, round leaves arranged in a balanced pattern. Lotus stems are drawn gently, flowing in curved lines. Cows are then lightly sketched with traditional proportions, with rounded bodies, slender legs, expressive eyes, and graceful necks. Horns, tails, and decorative bells are outlined simply at this stage. These basic sketches act as a visual guide, ensuring clarity and balance before detailed ornamentation and coloring begin, reflecting the serene and divine atmosphere of Pichwai art.
