About the Workshop

Yamuna Devi: Symbol of Purity and Grace in Miniature Painting: This miniature painting depicts the graceful form of Yamuna, the sacred river goddess in Hindu tradition. She is beautifully shown standing on a blooming lotus, which symbolizes purity and spiritual awakening. Yamuna Devi is closely associated with Krishna because the river Yamuna flows through the holy land of Vrindavan. The goddess is dressed in rich traditional attire decorated with intricate ornaments and colorful patterns. She holds lotus flowers and garlands, which represent beauty, devotion, and divine blessings. The background shows a peaceful river landscape filled with blooming lotuses, birds, and lush greenery. Animals such as swans and peacocks add life and harmony to the natural setting. The hanging lotus garlands above create a decorative temple-like atmosphere around the goddess. The soft colors, fine detailing, and delicate lines are typical features of Indian miniature painting. It expresses the sacred beauty and spiritual importance of the Yamuna as a life-giving river and divine goddess.
