A mural is an artwork painted or applied directly onto walls, ceilings or any other permanent surface. In murals, architectural elements of the given space are harmoniously incorporated into its creation. Among murals, the ones from Kerala stand out for their finesse.

In this workshop, we're going to do a painting of a traditional style Kerala Mural of ‘Krishna With Cow in Kerala Mural', with master native artist Mr. Saju M.P. who will take you through the process of creating this beautiful painting using the right traditional motifs and techniques of the Kerala Mural artform.

Shree Krishna is also called Gopala which means one who looks after cows. From then Gopashtami is celebrated and holds great importance for the devotees of Lord Krishna.
Cows are an important part of Hindu mythology and play a significant role in the story of Krishna (Shreenathji). Cow is associated with Aditi, which means the mother of all Gods.

About the Workshop

Module 1 : Washing of background & ornaments

Module 2: Giving of the 2nd coat of the base color and Starting of the Outlining with a mixture of red

Module 3: Continuing of the shading work

Module 4: Outlining and shading

Module 5: Washing and shading

Module 6: Shading on the background:

Module 7: Colouring and Shading

Module 8: Washing, Shading and outlining continue

Module 9: Finishing up with "Muricidal using black outlining and Complete the paintin

About the Master Artist

Mr. Saju.M.P. comes from a lineage of Kerala Mural artists. His work can be seen in the temples (Guruvayoor) and churches of Kerala. He is also actively involved in restoration work of Kerala Murals to preserve this heritage art.
