Pattachitra is an ancient art form from Odisha, India, dating back to the 12th century. Chitrakars use 100% natural colors from conch shells and minerals to create intricate paintings on surfaces like cloth, palm leaves, wood, and jewelry. The art depicts Hindu mythological stories, particularly around Lord Jagannath, Vaishnavism, and local folk tales, reflecting Odia tradition. Evolving, Pattachitra adapted to British and European tastes in the 19th century, preserving its rich legacy with vibrant colors and intricate details, offering a captivating visual representation of Odia culture.
Sri Vishnu Viswaroop In Pattachitra Painting: This Pattachitra painting of Sri Vishnu’s Vishwaroop depicts his grand and cosmic form. The artwork shows Lord Vishnu as vast and infinite, encompassing countless beings, gods, and the entire universe within his form. Every detail, from his multiple arms holding divine weapons to the intricate patterns, symbolizes his supreme power and omnipresence.
