Introduction:
Bhilwara, a city steeped in history and culture, recently became the canvas for my exploration of the traditional art form known as Phad painting. My visit was not only an encounter with breathtaking art but also an opportunity to witness the passion and expertise of Kalyan Joshi, a master Phad artist. This blog recounts the mesmerizing experience of the world of Phad art in Bhilwara.

Amazing Art and Culture:
As I stepped into the vibrant streets of Bhilwara, I was immediately captivated by the city's rich cultural heritage. The air was filled with an artistic aura, and every corner seemed to tell tales of centuries-old traditions. The city's commitment to preserving its cultural roots was evident, and this provided the perfect backdrop for my exploration of Phad art.

The 30-Feet Long Phad:
One of the highlights of my visit was the chance to witness a colossal 30-feet long Phad, a traditional scroll painting that narrates epic tales. The sheer scale and intricacy of the artwork left me in awe. I learned that it took a team of skilled artists almost three months to complete this masterpiece, a witness to their dedication and craftsmanship.

Phad Making Machine and Natural Color Extraction:
Kalyan Joshi, the renowned Phad artist, graciously shared insights into the traditional techniques employed in Phad art creation. The process involves the use of a specially designed Phad making machine, a tool that aids artists in achieving precision and detail in their work. The natural color extraction process was equally fascinating, with colors sourced from stones in accordance with the RYB (Red, Yellow, Blue) or primary color theory. The commitment to using natural colors adds depth and authenticity to the artwork.

Travellers Practicing Art:
One of the most heartwarming aspects of my visit was witnessing travelers from different parts of the world actively participating in Phad art under the guidance of Kalyan Joshi ji . The inclusive atmosphere fostered creativity and cultural exchange, transforming the art form into a bridge between diverse communities.

Kalyan Ji's Awards and Past Experiences:
Kalyan Joshi's studio served as a treasure trove of awards, recognitions, and fascinating stories from his past experiences. His walls were adorned with amazing art of Phad painting. Listening to his stories, I gained a profound understanding of the challenges and triumphs that shape a Phad artist's journey.

Conclusion:
My journey through Bhilwara and the world of Phad art, guided by the incomparable Kalyan Joshi, was a captivating experience. The city's commitment to preserving its cultural heritage and Kalyan Ji's dedication to passing on his skills to the next generation are testaments to the enduring beauty of Phad art. Bhilwara has not only become a custodian of tradition but also a vibrant hub where the past and present makes a life of art and culture.
