The Gandaberunda or Berunda is a two-headed bird in Hindu mythology, believed to possess immense magical strength. It is a form of Vishnu to fight Sharabha, a form of Shiva created to destroy Vishnu's lion-man Narasimha avatar.
Gandaberunda, in India, traces its origin to the Puranas, where Lord Vishnu takes an incarnation. When Vishnu, as Narasimha, turns into a destroyer due to uncontrollable rage, following the execution of Hiranyakashipu, Shiva takes the form of Sharabh.
