About the workshop

Create a beautiful "Nandi’s Sacred Narrative in Madhubani Art" in Madhubani painting. Learn from our native master artist, Ms. Hema Devi, a national award-winning artist from Bihar. She will teach the techniques and motifs of the art form and help you create a beautiful painting characterized by its bold colours and intricate designs.

Madhubani Painting - Madhubani painting, originating from Bihar, India, is a traditional folk art known for its vibrant colors and intricate patterns. Artists use natural dyes and depict Hindu mythology, nature, and daily life scenes. The paintings often feature bold outlines and geometric shapes, creating a unique and visually striking style. Madhubani art has gained international recognition for its cultural richness and storytelling through vivid visuals.

Nandi’s Sacred Narrative in Madhubani Art: This striking Madhubani painting depicts the sacred bull Nandi, the vahana of Lord Shiva, rendered in a sophisticated monochrome style against a vibrant red backdrop. Inside the body of Nandi, we can observe intricate depictions of deities, including Lord Shiva with Parvati in Ardhnarishwar form. The fine line work, characteristic of the Kachni style, creates a rich texture of patterns, lotuses, and geometric shapes that define the inner scenes. A notable contrast is achieved by the bold red background, which makes the detailed black-and-white figure pop with intense visual energy. Each figure, including Nandi himself, features the large, expressive, almond-shaped eyes. The double-lined border framing the artwork adds a sense of structure and completion to the complex internal imagery. By embedding gods and ritualistic symbols within the bull, the artist emphasizes the divine nature of all living beings within Hindu philosophy.
