About the Workshop
Create a beautiful Gond painting of "Mother's Love in Gond Art", in a workshop conducted by Master native artist, Mr. Sehdev Pushpam. Learn the motifs, techniques, and history of this ancient art form under Sehdevji's close guidance.
Gond Painting: Gond painting is a traditional tribal art form practiced by the Gond community of central India, mainly in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Odisha. It originated as wall and floor paintings created to decorate homes and invoke protection, prosperity, and harmony with nature. Gond artists draw inspiration from forests, animals, birds, trees, folk tales, and tribal deities. A key feature of Gond painting is the use of intricate dots, lines, and patterns to create texture and movement. Bright, natural colors are used to bring life and energy to the compositions. Each painting often tells a story or conveys a spiritual belief connected to everyday life. Today, Gond painting has evolved from traditional surfaces to paper and canvas, gaining global recognition as a vibrant form of Indian folk art.
Mother's Love in Gond Art: “Mother’s Love” in Gond art beautifully symbolizes the deep bond between a mother and her child through nature-inspired forms. The central animal figure, often a deer or cow, represents motherhood, protection, and nurturing care. Intricate patterns and rhythmic lines inside the figures reflect emotions, life energy, and inner strength. The tree growing from the mother’s body signifies fertility, continuity of life, and the connection between generations. Bright leaves, birds, and natural motifs show how a mother’s love supports and nourishes the entire ecosystem. The child figure walking close to the mother expresses trust, learning, and emotional security.
