De-stress and Relax with Warli Art

Written by Mamta Thakur May 05, 2021
To manage the pandemic it is important to give yourself time to relax and destress. Catterfly brought an entire month of complimentary workshops for Warli and Madhubani and everyone and they learnt wonderfully from our Master Artists, while still staying at their home.

The beautiful art of Warli is considered as one of the oldest forms of Indian folk art known for its monochromatic depictions of folk life , socio-religious customs, imaginations, and beliefs of people from Warli region of Maharashtra. This artform is passed from generations to generations through the mode of songs, folklores, village tales and as they say Warli dont write, but they paint their life stories.

Catterfly has curated some beautiful and exciting themes along with our native artist- Mr. Sanjay Sangle. Starting off with the theme of "Ant Hill on International Worker's Day in first week of May, we will move on to the beautiful them of "Mother's Day" in which we will paint a pair of mother and baby Peacock in Warli Style. We will then adopt more contemporary theme especially using monochromatic theme before moving on a special session on Buddha Poornima. We are sure, everyone will enjoy these sessions and will add further knowledge about the nuances of Warli art as well as the folktales from this special part of India. Hope to see many of you in the sessions. Welcome aboard on this beautifu journey of art with Catterfly.
